The Tamur River:

The first commercial run on Tamur was in 1990 and there have been very few descents since then. The trip combines one of the best short Himalayan treks with a challenging and exhilarating river journey. Tamur drains the snow of the mighty Kanchanjunga massif, the third highest peak in the world, and flows through a truly beautiful and unspoiled gorge. The superb sandy beaches, few villages and limited agriculture along the river provide Tamur with the most pristine rafting environment in Nepal.

Although the Tamur is still relatively untraveled, it probably has created more whitewater interest than any other commercial rafting river in Nepal. With three days of trekking through the foothills of the Himalayas followed by 120 kms of exceptional whitewater, the Tamur is a highly recommended for an active and exhilarating journey through the wilds of Nepal.

The Karnali River:

The Karnali River for Many experienced river rafters, who have rafted or kayaked down the Karnali agree that it is one of the best trips offered anywhere.

Rising in the vicinity of Tibet’s holy Mount Kailash, the Karnali gushes through a series of magnificent gorges and canyons from the high Himalayas as it descends slowly into the forests of western Nepal. Seasonal snow melts and storms can cause the river level to swell drastically and create the extremes of white water rafting.

In high water the Karnali is a serious undertaking with huge rapids. Even at lower levels the river is not easy, the rapids become more constricted and the gradient steeper. One highlight of this classic river journey is a 7 km long gorge ‘Thrill-a-minute roller-coaster ride’ where there is a rapid at almost every bend. Truly though, any season suits the Karnali.

More and expedition than a rafting trip we brgin with a bus journey into the remote and almost untouched region of western Nepal, crossing through part of the Bardia National Park. An alternative is to fly to Nepalgunj then make a 5 hour bus journey to Surkhet. From here there is another drive of around 4 hours, to get to Kalyani Danda, the last stop. The river section lasts 7 days including one rest day. At the end of the trip, you can choose to take a detour to Bardia National Park for a Safari.

‘Raging River’ in the local dialect, aptly describes one of the best whitewater runs in the world. Only recently opened for commercial rafting the Marshyangdi is one of the next generation of rivers in Nepal,it is steeper and with more continuous stretches of rapids. While driving to the raft put-in point,  there are great views of the Manaslu and Annapurna. The scenery is breathtaking!

From Ngadi, downstream to the end of the trip at Bimalnagar it is all solid whitewater. Rapids are steep, technical, and consecutive, making the Marshyangdi a serious undertaking. For people looking for a trip with a lot of demanding whitewater and great mountain scenery, the Marshyangdi is hard to beat. This is the river that demands respect.

The SunKosi the longest river trip offered in Nepal around 270 kms. The river flows through the beautiful Mahabharat Range on its meandering way from the put-in point at Dolalghat to the take-out point at Chatara, way down on the Gangetic Plain near the border with India. The trip begins just 3 hours out of Kathmandu, only sixty kms from the Tibet border, and ends looking down on the North Indian plain just a week later.

The first couple of days on the river fairly relaxed with class II and small class III rapids just to warm you up.This is an ideal time to get some cohesion as a group and the river guides take this opportunity to get the teams to work with exquisite precision for what is to come!.On the third day, the rapids become more powerful and frequent with high water trips. Many lower sections of large volume rivers are usually rather flat, not the Sun Koshi, some of its biggest and best rapids are saved for the last days. A trip on this fantastic  river it is a combination of powerful whitewater, stunning scenery, villages and truly quiet and introspective evenings along what many people consider to be one of the world’s ten classic river journeys.

Kali Gandaki is named after the goddess Kali,it rises in Mustang an enclave of Nepal on the northern side of the Himalayas, then tumbles down to create the deepest river gorge in the world. Magnificent views of the mountains, village inhabitants, local culture, forest vegetation and wildlife are found along the journey, as well as its equally turbulent 3 to 4+ rapids and deadly holes found when rafting this river.

The recent damming of the lower portion of the river has left one of Nepal’s premier medium length river journeys that combines some fantastic whitewater with some of the most beautiful scenery in Nepal, villages that are rarely visited, truly quiet evenings, abundant wildlife, sandy beaches and stunningly beautiful waterfalls.

The rapids on the Kali Gandaki are much more technical and continuous, enough to keep paddlers busy all day. Both experienced and novice rafters love this. Nowhere else in Nepal is it possible to find such diversity on a 3 day raft trip.

Nice drops, sparkling chutes and turbulent rapids provide class III to IV+ runs during the Autumn and spring seasons. The river follows an ancient trading route from Tibet that takes you through the deepest river gorge in the world.

Drawing amazing and mystifying power from high in the Bhot (Tibet), the Bhote Koshi River, gushes into Nepal through breathtaking valleys like a venomous snake. Glacial water from the 10th Highest Mountain in the world, Shisa Pangma carves a steep and direct drop at the top that gradually eases to more placid streams and calmer pools within a 46 kms run at the Lamosangu dam. The rapids over here are a solid class IV- V at high flow and a more classic III at lower levels.

Continuous, challenging and action-packed, the Bhote Koshi offers nothing less than the ride of a lifetime. If you have never rafted before and if you have limited time but desire an adrenaline overload, then this is an ideal introductory trip package for you.

If you are looking for a fantastic setting then the thrilling drops, gorges and limestone formations will welcome you into another dimension where your instinct becomes your driving force and your body is your best ally. Both experienced and novice paddlers will agree that this is a unique experience.

The Trishuli River:

The Trishuli is Nepal’s most popular rafting river because of the easy access from Kathmandu and Pokhara. Fantastic scenery in a beautiful valley and impressive gorges with some exhilarating rapids along with easier sections as well as the right amount of time for a short trip, all make it the perfect trip for first-time or experienced rafters.

The river’s popularity means that it is crowded at times and the beaches are disturbed during the normal rafting season. If you really want some fun during the monsoon months, the Trishuli changes character completely as huge runoffs makes the river swell and shear like an immense ribbon of churning ocean. When the river is running high and wild, there are hardly any rafters around and rafting the Trishuli is without doubt the most exciting thing you can do in Nepal during the monsoon, and just perhaps one of the best two days of big water rafting trips offered anywhere in the world.

Rafting the Trishuli fits well into journeys to Pokhara, trekking the Annapurna region and a trip to Chitwan National Park. After a few hours driving from Kathmandu or Pokhara, it offers 1-3 days rafting with exciting rapids such as “Upset, Bijuli,, Lady’s Delight, Surprise.

The Seti River

A unique river that passes through two beautiful and contrasting scenic areas. The river has relatively small volume,it is blue and warm and we recommend this as an ideal short trip for first time rafters or as “warm-up” for intermediate kayakers. The water temperature is incredibly warm, making it a popular choice for winter trips and also for kayak clinics.

The River The Seti Khola rises on the South East slopes of Machhapuchhare and then flows south, as a fairly typical Nepalese mountain river it is a dammed for Hydro Electic power just above Pokhara and then shortly afterwards it disappears into a deep and very narrow chasm to go underground. It then reappear again in a wide valley a few kilometers below pokhara – be warned though , the river disappears underground yet again, about 16km below Pokhara.A rafting expedition on the River Seti is one of the most beautiful short river expeditions available in Nepal. The warm waters of this river are heated naturally with the help of underground springs and geothermic activity.
