Start a Stunning Adventure With Pikey Peak Trekking

Picture yourself standing at the top of Pikey Peak while the noise of daily life disappears and the endless snowy peaks of the Himalayas surround you. Pikey Peak Trek makes that amazing scene more than just a thought—it turns it into your next trip.

Pikey Peak Trekking focuses on the quiet and untouched paths of Nepal’s Lower Everest region. They guide you to explore the Pikey Peak Trek, a trail that mixes incredible scenery with real cultural experiences. This is the kind of journey you carry with you even after the trek is over.

Trek Overview

What You Need to Know About Pikey Peak Trek

No matter if you have a week or two available, the Pikey Peak Trek fits into your plans. Depending on your pace, this trek can last from 7 to 14 days. At its tallest point, Pikey Peak stands 4,065 meters or 13,333 feet high giving you clear views of iconic mountains like Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, and Annapurna.

The Pikey Peak trail feels calm compared to the busy Everest Base Camp route. It gives you space to enjoy the mountains and at your own speed, without large groups around.

You don’t have to be an expert climber. This trek is rated moderate so even beginners with decent fitness can try it.

Trip Duration and Challenge

The Pikey Peak Trek is very flexible in such a way that visitors can modify it to their own time calendars. While others do it within 7 days, others opt to do it in 14 days so that they can do it at leisure and engage in more cultural activities. The trek is moderately demanding thus making it suitable for those who are inexperienced in trekking but are energetic. Seasoned trekkers can also experience it. It does not need any prior experience with high altitudes a love for nature and walking.

Best Time to Visit

March to May and September to December are the most favorable months to trek Pikey Peak. Both of these periods enjoy stable weather and blue skies offering wonderful views of the mountain. Colors of rhododendrons and green forests lie in wait for the trekkers during spring season. Cool breezes and Himalayan peak views are still to be found during autumn season.

Height and Main Peaks

The summit of Pikey Peak is the highest peak of the trek at 4,065 meters or 13,333 feet. There are stunning Himalayan vistas at the top. You can see Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, and Makalu. If the weather permits, you may even see Annapurna. The gradient is easy and not demanding. It provides adequate time to acclimatize to the altitude and take many good photos.

Highlights of the Journey

Stunning Sights and Cultural Gems

The trail gives you breathtaking Himalayan views around every corner. However, it’s not about the mountains. This journey lets you experience Nepal’s deep and vibrant culture.

You’ll pass through Sherpa villages where people live much like they have for generations. Locals greet visitors with kindness, prayer flags move in the wind, and home-cooked meals in small family teahouses offer a real glimpse into mountain life.

Sherpa Villages and Way of Life

One of the finest pleasures of the Pikey Peak Trek is the ability to experience for yourself traditional Sherpa way of life. You trek through peaceful villages like Junbesi and Jhapre in the hills and witness the hospitality and simplicity that define their existence. Rock houses vibrant prayer flags waving gently in the air, hand-carved mani walls, and tillers tilling fields evoke a picture of life tied together with nature and time-honored traditions. Spending a night in small family-owned teahouses provides the opportunity to view Sherpa people as they are—throwing their doors wide open with hospitable reception food, and friendly smiles.

Thupten Choeling Monastery

Concealed in the hills that look down on Junbesi, the Thupten Choeling Monastery is a peaceful way station along the trail. Established in the 1960s by venerated Trulshik Rinpoche, it’s a vast and thriving monastery and nunnery dedicated to maintaining Tibetan Buddhist tradition. To be here is infinitely more than a transient stop—it’s being within something sacred. The air is thick with the chant of prayers, the aroma of incense sticks on ancient stone walls, and you might even get to attend a prayer session if you are fortunate. It has been rated by many trekkers as emotive and enabling them to pause and reflect in the midst of the Himalayas.

Vegetation and Wildlife Along the Trail

The scenery of the Pikey Peak Trek is breathtaking. Rhododendron, the national flower of Nepal, in pink, red, and white, paint the trail in spring. Pine and oak trees standing tall above shelter much of the path creating homes for birds like the Himalayan monal, pheasants, and colorful sunbirds. Sitting still and lucky, one can observe langurs or wild deer darting across the forest. Walking through various ecosystems along the trek makes it thrilling and does not make any day stale or monotonous.

All our packages include luxury amenities, accommodations, and facilities.

The Mt. Everest region, situated in the north-eastern region of the country, is the most popular trekking route of Nepal. The Everest region is famous for trekking, expedition, and photography of the scenic and panoramic views of the world’s highest snowy mountain peak, Mt. Everest [8,848m], and other highest peaks available in the region. The Everest trekking is protected by the Sagarmatha National Park, which was established in 1976 and covers 1148 sq. km. Everest Base camp trek is protected by the Sagarmatha parkland, established in 1976 and covering an area of 1148 sq. km. The peak of Mt mountain, locally regarded as Sagarmatha, pronounced by the world’s godmother, has since been the trekkers’ and nature enthusiasts’ favorite destination.

The tourist of the Everest trekking has an excellent opportunity to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience. There are various options to experience trek in the region, i.e., Everest Base Camp Trekking, Kala-Pattar trekking, Everest View Trekking, and Gokyo Cho la pass trekking, Everest Panorama Trekking, Jiri to Everest Base Camp Trekking, etc. There are various routes and destinations to explore and experience trekking in the region of Everest. The Everest region trekking is the ultimate adventure, the journey for those whose dreams reach the skies higher than even the clouds.

You must know why you must select the Everest Base Camp Trek itinerary. But here is something else you must know as well.

You can access Mt Everest foothills in various methods and ways. Here, below, we will present the most popular Everest Base Camp Trek Packages 2025 and 2026 which you can select among best-selling packages by Mountain Rock Treks, one of the best Everest base camp trek operators.

Lastly but not the least, some treks in the Everest Region stop by other region top destinations, including Everest Base Camp.

Three High Passes Trekking and Gokyo Chola Pass Trekking are Mountain Rock Treks’ two favorites. Both of these treks are the best value if you wish to experience more than just Everest Base Camp Trek.

Firstly, Three High Passes Trekking is the longest Everest trek. It crosses the three biggest high passes of the region, i.e., Chola Pass, Kongma La Pass, and Renjo La Pass. At the same time, it passes through Everest Base Camp Trek and Kala Patthar. Thus, it is a great option to cross the whole Everest Region in 19 days.

Second and lastly, Gokyo Chola Pass Trek is a trek that brings you to Gokyo Valley and climbs Cho La Pass. You are going to view the stunning Gokyo Valley, Six fresh water Gokyo Lakes, Gokyo Ri, and Cho La Pass in this trek. Furthermore, the trek takes you incidentally to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. So if you like to hike through Gokyo Valley, climb Cho La Pass, and reach Everest Base Camp, this is your package.

Thus, these two are the choices you can go with if you want something more than Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. But, these two hikes are a little demanding, best for the clever hikers.

When should you go to Everest Base Camp?
The blanket response to this one is ‘autumn and spring,’ but of course, the weather at this very exceptionally high altitude is never guaranteed. Climbers and trekkers are there year-round, but there are some times when the weather is actually more suitable for the average trekker. Below, we outline what to expect each season.

Everest Base Camp in Spring (March to May)

One of the peak seasons for trekking to Everest Base Camp, and for good reason. The weather is clear for the most part, with unobstructed views of the mountains, and temperatures ideal for trekking. Daytime temperatures rise to nice 15-20°C (59-68°F) close to lower altitudes, and at night temperatures drop to around -5 to 5°C (23-41°F). The trail is covered with blooming rhododendrons and other alpine wildflowers, making even more of a breathtaking scenery.

Pros:
Clear mountain vistas and good weather conditions.
Nice daytime temperatures to hike.
Colorsful landscapes of blooming flowers.
Cons:

Paths and accommodations are crowded because demand is extremely high.

Everest Base Camp during Monsoon (June to August)
Monsoon is known for heavy rain, particularly at lower elevations of the Everest terrain. The trails are slippery and muddy, and flights to and from Lukla are normally rescheduled or canceled due to low visibility.
However, for the few who are adventurous and have no problem with rain, there are plus points such as fewer trekkers on trails and lush green terrain. Day temperatures range from 18-25°C (64-77°F), and nights range from 8-12°C (46-54°F) at lower levels.

Advantages:

Fewer tourist crowds on trails and less crowded lodges.
Green and lush landscape, ideal for photography.

Disadvantages:

High probability of flight delay or cancellation.
Slippery trails and heavy rainfall.

Everest Base Camp in Autumn (September to November)
Autumn is regarded as the second-best season to hike to Everest Base Camp with good weather and beautiful scenery. Skies clear up after the monsoon showers, and one gets treated to spectacular views of the mountains. Temperatures during the day vary between 12-18°C (54-64°F), while at night, temperatures dip to -10 to 0°C (14-32°F). The season also coincides with Nepal’s main festivals like Dashain and Tihar and hence gives a cultural twist to your hike.

Pros:

Clear blue skies and perfect visibility.
Fine trekking weather.
Chance to witness Nepali festivals.
Disadvantages:
Evenings become chilly, especially at high altitudes.
Trails and lodges get crowded.

What is the Food on the Everest Base Camp Trek Like?
There is an abundance of great, multi-cuisine food on this trek, such as pizza, chowmein, porridge, and omelets. However, above 3,000m (basically above Namche Bazaar), we recommend that you avoid eating meat as, in general, teahouses do not have refrigerators. You will be having your meals at the tea house where you will be staying.

They don’t have such a huge selection, however. They do have an excellent vegetarian option, though. In the larger villages, such as Lukla and Namche – even bakery items fresh from the oven straight from the bakery and a pub.

You can get eggs, toast or Tibetan bread, porridge, or noodles for breakfast.

Dal bhat is the menu of choice of the porters and guide. Dal bhat is lentil (dal) soup and vegetable curry served with rice. It’s very filling and a Nepali staple.

Dinner at your overnight tea house will vary, particularly at lower altitudes. There are several types of soups, noodles and pasta in different forms, fried potatoes, fried rice, pizza (of different quality), more dal bhat, and dessert maybe custard or rice pudding.

There will be soft drinks and tea, and coffee at each stop

Bakeries provide bread and cakes in larger settlements such as Namche and Lukla.

Breakfast at your overnight teahouse on EBC Trek:
Spicy Nepali omelet with chili, onion, and tomatoes or hot milk porridge
Toast with honey or jam
Nepali spiced tea or coffee (most probably instant coffee outside the larger settlements).
Lunch on EBC Trek:
Dal bhat (rice, curry, lentils) or noodles if that is available
Nepali tea or a soft drink (where available)
Chowmin
Pasta
Dinner at your overnight teahouse on EBC Trek:
Garlic soup
Tibetan bread
Vegetable fried macaroni
Custard
Beer/ spirits (we recommend you keep alcohol to an absolute minimum at high altitude)Tea/ coffee

Acclimatization on the EBC Trek
As soon as you arrive at Lukla airport, you are already at 2,860m – having taken off from Kathmandu at 1,440m an hour earlier. You are already at 3,440m above sea level when you get to Namche.
At this height, some will begin to feel the effect of the body to the altitude. Our guides are well trained in the signs of altitude sickness and what to do if any trekker gets sick. Our guides and trek leaders will also carry an oximeter to monitor your oxygen level if there are any questions. But prevention is better than the cure, so drink plenty of water and let the guide know if there are any changes in your body. To avoid problems, we have acclimatization days at Namche Bazaar and one at Dingboche.

Acclimatization days do not mean that you do nothing. It means going around at a higher altitude and resting at a lower altitude to acclimatize your body to the altitude. In our EBC trek, we have included things to do and see on these two days.

Altitude Change in EBC Trek and How Magical Nepal Operates to Reduce Altitude Sickness

You arrive in the Everest Region at Lukla airport, 2,860m/ 9,383ft. You trek for four hours on arrival day to the first night’s stop at Phakding, 2,651m/ 8,697ft. As may be noted, you are already at significant altitude.

Therefore, two days of acclimatization are added to lessen the chances of altitude problems. One is at Namche Bazaar at 3,700m/ 12,139ft and another at Dingboche at 3,956m/ 12,979ft. This way, your body gets adapted to the high altitude and the pressure it is withstanding.

Of course, there are no certainties, so in the event of any problems, Magical Nepal guides are first aid trained and have been guiding Himalayan treks for at least seven years. They will be keeping an eye out for any symptoms you’re displaying, but if you’re not feeling well, however minor you think it might be, you must let your guide know immediately. They wish to make it the most memorable experience you have ever had – which includes keeping you healthy and safe.

Trekking to Everest Base Camp or finding the proper Everest base camp trek route can be a stiff challenge for anyone, no matter what age but we realize that as the years go by, actually achieving the goal can become more of a challenge for older people. This trek is designed for people who are generally older or perhaps have a minor disability, but nevertheless would like to share in “The Everest Base Camp Experience” in a more leisurely way.

The trek to Goyko via Renjo la pass offers an alternative to the traditional Everest base camp trek. From Goyko Ri there are better views of Everest than the more traditional viewing spot of Kala Pattar. The mountains are more spectacular, the Ngozumpa Glacier is the largest in the Nepal Himalaya and from a ridge above Gokyo four 8000-meter peaks (Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu) are visible. The view of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang (7922m) is one of the most dramatic panoramas in Khumbu Himalaya.

Choosing the Right Route for Everest Base Camp Trek

Nothing quite compares to the Everest Base Camp trek. Trekking beneath the roof of the world, Mount Everest is an experience like no other. But when you are, for example, planning your trek one of the first question that will face is : Which route? Although the standard route for trekkers is through Lukla, there are alternatives that present different opportunities, challenges and rewards. Some are classic trails, like the Everest Base Camp trek, and others are more adventurous experiences (Three Passes circuit) or remote alternatives (Jiri route).

Things To Consider When Choosing Your Route

If you’re going to trek Everest Base Camp, there are a few things that you must have in your mind. The best one will depend on your own individual preferences, health and goals for the journey. Here is a summary of all the different things you need to keep in mind:

If you have 12 days: vs if there are 20 days available Some routes will be longer than others.

Please tell us a little about your fitness and trekking experience: are you an experienced trekker or is this your first major adventure? That said, some routes are tougher than others.

Acclimatization to altitude: Save the possibility of altitude sickness, because more time to acclimatize helps you gradually gain altitude on some routes.

Cultural immersion : how far do you want to go with that? Are you looking to see more remote villages and experience the local ways of living or are a night out in a new city at the wine bar enough for you?

Trekking from Classic Lukla to Everest Base Camp

The Lukla route to Everest Base Camp is a famous and frequent trekking route. This is what most people think of when they dream of climbing Everest.

The trekking begins with the pleasant flight to Lukla from Kathmandu at 2860 meters. It is probably one of the most beautiful air routes in the world and takes you deep into the Himalayas to start your trek. This beautiful airstrip is located on a mountain surrounded by high mountains peaks. On arrival at Lukla, the Everest Base Camp Trek truly begins.

Namche Bazaar: The dynamic Sherpa hub serves as the entryway to the Khumbu area and a crucial acclimatization point. In this venue, you can amass provisions and immerse in the vibrant ambiance.

Tengboche Monastery: Among the region’s renowned monasteries, Tengboche provides sweeping vistas of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. It’s also an excellent venue for acquiring insights into the regional Buddhist customs.

Kala Patthar: Should you seek the time-honored vistas of Everest, this is your destination.  At 5,550 meters, Kala Patthar provides expansive vistas of Mount Everest and other Himalayan behemoths, establishing it as a prime viewpoint along the trek.

Teahouses line the path – humble inns offering weary travelers respite and scalding repasts, as well as a nocturnal abode. The teahouses have basic accommodation with shared rooms and bathrooms. please change words in the following sentence: But trust me, when you’ve just walked double-digit mileage over rough terrain at high altitude day in day out for weeks at a time you’ll stop caring about fancy lodgings and private apartments! But trust me, after a long drive where you’ve trudged over rough terrain at high altitude, you’ll likely stop caring about fancy lodgings and Nonetheless, opulent inns are accessible on the path if that strikes your interest.

The Perks of the Lukla Route:

Quick and Snappy: If you’re pressed for time, like some folks with hectic schedules, sticking to the Lukla path is a nifty choice. You’re looking at about 12 to 14 days of trekking – definitely shorter than those other starts from far-flung spots.

For folks wanting to bypass that flight straight into Lukla—and spicing it up on an old-school trek—the Jiri stretch is a top-notch pick! You’ll hit Jiri by road trundling outs Kathmandu before setting foot proper on your journey ahead.

Kicking off from quaint ol’ Jiri means gradually winding upward across Solu-Khumbu land until ya find yourself standing right smack dab near mighty Everest itself! Jiri takes ’roundabout longer though clockin’ swiftly maybe twenty-ish days already slinking toward mystical kaleidoscope high heavens known roundly whispered too much sense stirring more human solitude vibes okay?

Solid Acclimation Happens Hereabouts Too… Unlike classic busy-beaten Luka shortcutters rushwise where pacing stays slow-and-steady snares higher acclimating qua joys possible preventing sick blues lurking sharp above rarified air dimensions compared tried true travelers yeah happenstance best left mentions resting yet again assuring health focus safe tricky bits clear-headed realms altitudes keeps open utmost integrity themselves willing bouts epic quests beckon dare surely answer Nothing less!,

Three Passes Trek:

So, let’s dive into the juicy bits about trekking the Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass for anyone itching to soak up Everest vibes without tackling that beast known as the Three Passes Trek. Think of it like taking a scenic detour from Namche Bazaar instead of beelining straight to Everest Base Camp. Those eye-popping Gokyo Lakes are calling your name!

Now, these aren’t just any lakes—they’re like Mother Nature’s Instagram gold. Perched way up high at 4,700 meters, they shimmer with this crazy turquoise tint that’ll have you snapping pics left and right. It’s definitely quieter here compared to the hustle bustle near Base Camp—a real chance to breathe in peace among those epic mountain landscapes.

As if that isn’t enough eye candy, give climbing Gokyo Ri a go while you’re there! This peak treats you to some jaw-dropping views overlooking giants like Everest itself along with Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu—talk about getting more bang for your trekker buck!

Once you’ve soaked all that goodness in around Gokyo (pun totally intended), you’ll cross over the notorious Cho La Pass at its towering 5,420-meter altitude—that’ll get those legs burning alright! Especially during winter when ice parties on every surface; talk about an icy slice through adventure land.

Why even consider going down this path? Well…

Those stunning & less crowded places never hurt:

  • The dazzling turquoise waters and breathtaking scenery await.
  • A climb up mountain roads yields panoramic memories sure worth treasuring forever.

Cho-La challenges inject thrilling fun too—getting across means braving heights unlike anywhere else but adding serious wow factor wherever possible can change everything beyond compare effortlessly yet packed full excitement throughout eventually end result guarantees incredible stories tell afterwards always

But if seasoned trekkers after sheer adventurous conquest need look no further than: cue dramatic music …The revered Three Passes Trek!! The trek takes around 18-20 days and offers a entire Everest experience. You’ll bypass through far flung valleys, pristine lakes, glaciers, and villages which can be often skipped by different trekkers. Unlike the out-and-again treks, the Three Passes trek is a circular direction, meaning you’ll in no way retrace your steps, making it a miles greater immersive experience.

While this course is the maximum tough alternative, it’s best for folks who want to fully explore the Everest vicinity and feature the health level and experience to deal with high-altitude passes.

Advantages of the Three Passes Trek:

Comprehensive revel in: This trek covers the whole Khumbu location, which includes Gokyo Lakes and Everest Base Camp, at the side of far off areas which might be hardly ever visited via tourists.

The trek from Jiri to the Everest Base Camp is to walk in the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary when he conquered the mountain back in 1953 long before the mountain airstrip at lukla was built. One real benefit of taking the longer route in is the fantstic alpine like scenary you experience along the way towards Lukla. Another benefit is that there are far less trekkers and at times you can believe you have the Himalayas to yourself. Most people who trek this route get a real satisfaction of starting at the begining and seeing it through to the end.

This trek is likely to appeal to people who enjoy more remote settlements and different cultures on the way to reaching the ultimate goal of E.B.C. where they are rewarded by some fantastic high mountain views of Mt. Everest-8848m, Cho Oyu-8153m, Lhotse-8516m and Makalu-8463m.

Everest Base Camp Trek

Everest Base Camp Trek is the most sought-after trekking route globally, and it offers an unparalleled experience of adventure, nature, and culture discovery. While the tourists go for this famous trek to the base of the highest mountain in the world, they gain an unparalleled bird’s eye view of the splendor of the Himalayas and the unique Sherpa culture. The hike offers a chance to not only see stunning scenery but also to learn about the history and religious importance of the area.

The Everest Base Camp Trek

The hike most commonly begins in Lukla, a village boasting a world-famous, and occasionally heart-stopping, mountain airstrip. From Lukla, the route follows the beautiful Khumbu Valley, past Sherpa villages as charming as Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche. Each village is a gateway to another world of experience, offering novel views of the surrounding peaks, compelling insights into nearby culture, and gracious hospitality from Sherpa communities that have inhabited this region for centuries.

The Magnificent Views

As trekkers ascend above the ever-changing landscape, they get to enjoy marvelous views of a few of the world’s tallest mountains, including Mount Everest (8,848.86 meters), Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. The snow-crested ridges of the mountains offer an awe-inspiring view that reduces trekkers to gasping at every stepWith every step ahead, the angle shifts, and new views and visions of the towering Himalayan range, glaciers, icefalls, and boulder formations that typify this picture-postcard landscape, open up.

As trekkers get closer to Everest Base Camp, the sense of accomplishment and wonder grows stronger. At 5,364 meters (17,598 feet) in elevation, the Everest Base Camp itself offers a panoramic glimpse of the world’s highest mountain. The base camp offers a broad view of the glaciers and of the towering giants surrounding them, inducing the sense of wonder before nature and its vastness.

Cultural Observations Along the Way
While natural beauty of the hike is actually an icing on the cake, cultural perspective is just as fulfilling. Sherpa folk, whose ancestors have been inhabiting the area for centuries, are the axis upon which the trekking revolves.
Travelers on the way encounter ancient Buddhist monasteries, such as the famous Tengboche Monastery, where tourists can witness traditional ceremonies, get an insight into Sherpa spirituality, and see great Himalayan art and architecture.

The trek also provides an opportunity to learn about the Sherpa people and culture, renowned for their resilience, hospitality, and love of mountains. The hospitality of the tea houses along the route adds a personal touch to the journey, making it not just a physical challenge but also a cultural experience.

The Challenge of Altitude
Everest Base Camp trek is as much about physical endurance to walk over challenging terrain and steep ridges as it is about acclimatization to high altitude. Trekkers begin to feel the effects of the thinner air as they climb, which can make breathing more difficult and come with a greater risk of altitude sickness.
This section of the trek is a humbling experience of seeing the difficulty of high-altitude travel and how great it feels to be awed by the resilience of the Himalayas.
A Life-Changing View
For the average trekker, reaching Everest Base Camp is more of a trial by endurance—it is a very personal experience. To be standing at the foot of Mount Everest, with peaks stretching above and a world that exists elsewhere on this planet unfolding before one’s eyes, is a deeply humbling experience.
It puts us in mind of the scale of the natural world and of the comparative smallness of any individual human interest.. The trek also instills an attitude of gratitude of the surrounding nature, its inhabitants, and the opportunity to explore one of the most dramatic sites on planet Earth.

In addition to the natural landscape and cultural diversity, the Everest Base Camp Trek also presents an opportunity for self-realization and self-knowledge. Most trekkers realize their own physical and mental limits, which they have tested and become familiar with nature. It is not merely because of the arduous ascent they are proud to have achieved Base Camp but for the way the experience itself—its triumphs as much as its loss—has changed them.

Trekking to Everest Base Camp can be a stiff challenge for anyone, no matter what age but we realize that as the years go by, actually achieving the goal can become more of a challenge for older people. This trek is designed for people who are generally older or perhaps have a minor disability, but nevertheless would like to share in “The Everest Base Camp Experience” in a more leisurely way. The itinerary below has been extended by five days, to allow more time on the trail, compared to our normal E.B.C. itinerary.

The Everest Base Camp trek takes you right into the heart of the great Himalayas and its hardy people, with awe-inspiring views of many of the world’s highest and most beautiful mountains. Couple this with some truly fascinating Sherpa villages, along with some of the world’s highest Buddhist monasteries and the highest peaks on Earth, it is no wonder it is described as a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity.

Everest Base Camp Trekking for Seniors

It has taken millions of years and unimaginably powerful forces to create this mountain range, the Himalayas are literally the result of what happens when two continents collide. It changed the global climate system at the time and still shapes the global climate around it today.

The journey starts with an unforgettable flight from Kathmandu to the mountain airstrip at Lukla in the lap of the Himalayas. The trail takes you through Sherpa villages, past cultivated fields we follow the Dudh Kosi and climb up to Namche Bazaar.Once above the tree-line the scenery is stark but in some ways more spectacular. The monastery at Thyangboche is a photographer’s paradise, set against the backdrop of Ama Dablam, Everest and other huge snow-capped peaks, it stands peacefully serene.

The vivid colours of Thyangboche only add to a sense of something almost sureal in this area. With plenty of  time for acclimatization en route we journey on to our goal Everest Base Camp, on the Khumbu Glacier.Once there you realise that the hard work and effort was nothing compared to the rewards gained from being amongst the highest mountains on earth.
